So, I know you've got the sections for anime, comics, games, but what makes each of you a geek? I always thought of a geek as a computery person, but then i saw one member say they don't even have internet at home..
I don't want to start a debate over what is or isn't a geek, just what makes you feel like you fit in here.

Me, I'm a gamer.. long time computer gamer, slowly turning to consoles. I don't keep up with computers and games like i used to. My first console was the PS2, sort of late to the game, i know. And i got that because of my #1 passion, cars. Gran Turismo 3 was the console seller for me. Now I have a Wii and play the consoles more than any computer games.

I always liked comics and anime, but never really got into it. I watched some anime i borrowed from a friend, I've read old comic books, stacks that were given to me or cheap at a yard sale, but never followed any series or anything.

I grew up loving fantasy stuff, games, movies, books etc, now i prefer sci-fi, still in the 'geek realm' though, i think.

I've got another geeky hobby too, related to my love of cars, I'm a diecast collector.

(Interesting sidenote, I found GO! because of something spidey posted on a local auto forum)

makes me miss the JCO! lol

What makes me geeky... (other than my glasses! HA)... I would have to say it's my longtime love of everything anti-social :D

comic books, video games (since Nintendo days!), computers, my love of Star Trek ( :P ), my old Magic card days, and my newfound (last three years) fondness for MMO gaming :D

I was never really huge huge into any sort of Anime or Manga - except for Sailor Moon (not one word! <_< ) xD

For me, it's definitely comic books. I'm a big Marvel Comics fan and nerd.

My second geeky passion is movies. Not just because I like watching them, the geeky part of that hobby is that I'm a trivia Hog. I always opt for the 2-disc DVD's with all the extras and behind the scenes stuff. I like to memorize famous movie quotes and know little anecdotes about actors and crew members involved in movies. Anywho, suffice it to say, I love everything that movies involve.

My third Geeky passion is Video Games. Although I don't consider myself a hardcore gamer by any means, I do love spending hours upon hours focused in a video game. It's a great way to escape reality.

So I think it's a combination of all my hobbies that make me Geeky.

Video Games, and just generally being into things most people don't think about. I was doing the NES thing when it was new, owned the SNES and Genesis when those came out and just went from there. I was into BBS gaming before the Internet came out(L.O.R.D For The Win!).

Even bigger than Video Games though is programming/coding. When I was 8 I discovered a HowTo book on QBasic programming for kids in the library at my school. I did every example in the book, and built my own programs, but it wouldn't be until I was 15/16 at high school that I would learn any more.

I went to college for Computer Science and have since graduated and acquired a full time job programming for the Federal Government. I used to get teased by some kids because of how "good" I was with computers, but I'm the one laughing now with my cushy job and comfortable lifestyle.

I never really did the comic thing(but I did get into the Walking Dead last year), but I did do Magic Cards when I was younger, and I read some science fiction stuff now.

So I at least touch on most areas people commonly associate with being a geek, and I'm proud of it. Oh, I'm also an amateur writer(nothing published) which is sort of geeky.

That's good, cause we need more computer geeks on GO! That forum section doesn't get much attention, lol.

I used to play Magic as well... even amongst geeks i almost feel ashamed to say it  as well as a few RPGs - the real paper & dice kind. Games Workshop war games as well... I just don't have the time for a lot of it anymore, i guess.

I haven't exactly made a career of my geeky interests though, I'm an ironworker.

video games: have been since NES
movies: i like colecting movies.....not sure why though
collection junky: i like to collect junk. Im slowly building up a transformers collection and I also collect just random toys that look kinda cool. I also collect diecast cars. mostly dubcity. i have 15 of em lol.

I also used to play Magic cards haha......seems to be a common trait around here lol. And, embarssing to say, I played Yu Gi Oh as well LOL

Comic books, ive read my fair share, but never able to follow and keep up to date with them.

by through and through I'm a Lord Of The Rings junkie

Guess it all started when I got my first comic book when i was young, think it was manga or something, to young to remember but it was cool looking. Later I got a set of series one Marvel trading cards. After that i started reading wizard, and later Co-oping at a comic store in Brockville called the Comic Cave. Great comic store, TONS of back issues Bronze, Silver, and gold. So I have been a geek all my life, but never really got into comics till about last year or so.

I used to play alot of magic, had a few good decks. Black weinie hatred deck, could kill in about 3 or 4 turns. I had a nice haunted cross roads deck around the invasion times too. Usually have a few avatars of might and fury on the table in about 4 or 5 turns. Ended up selling off my cards though.

Still really into video games, playing WOW right now, really into it. I played some cube and some Xbox and PS2. PS has to be my favorite company they make there games play and look better then the others.

Not really into movies that much, usually what is old or what is cult. I am a big fan of older movies....ones that came out just around when colour was introduced. Some of them can be really funny. Any WW2 movies are usually good. Seen all the "good" Stanley Krubrick films. Action and Sci-Fi aswell but usually what is on TV.

Other then that not much more nerd to me.

I never liked being labeled things like "nerd" or "geek", but it seems I always was a geek! From Star Trek (Next Generation in particular), to Reboot, to Whose Line is it Anyway, there has always been a certain TV series that I get passionate about!I've always liked video and PC games, but this darn laptop won't support much of the latter. And although I've never owned my own video game console, my younger stepbrother has gone through no less than 6 of them! In addition to just watching him play (Resistance: Fall of Man looks cool, not to mention the new Unreal Tournament), I've been lucky enough to play a few fighting games. That and first-person shooters have always been personal favorites. I've been meaning to get a PS2 or 3, but resisted the temptation due to time and money constraints. (If I can change my life a little, I may give in; I'm hooked on FUN!)

I figure my older stepbrother Eric is a geek; not only is he addicted to World of Warcraft, but he amassed a huge comic book collection over the nineties. Lucky me! :) He still collects Powers and Walking Dead, and is a big Neil Gaiman fan who used to be into Magic cards and such.

After an initial interest in various comics in the late nineties, I dropped them altogether in 2000 for a few reasons. Within a year, thanks in part to a movie-loving stepfather, I'd became especially interested in psychological thrillers as well as exciting action movies. (I was too young for some of those before then.) I've seen many older films, as well as some foreign--and when buying DVDs, special features are always part of the reason. I didn't embrace both comics and movies until two after that, when certain books like Johnny the Homicidal Maniac (funniest comic I read until Nextwave!) drew me back in.

Since 2006, I've been seeing less movies and reading more comix and graphic novels. That's also around the time I started watching The Daily Show and The Colbert Report!

I love the Walking Dead. I've just started collecting it, I read all the back issues online. I'll buy the hard cover books eventually.

Neil Gaiman is just fantastic. What a wonderful author. Always inventive and has a great imagination. He penned the book that really got me into books(Neverwhere), and he sold me on the idea that novels for children can be enjoyed by people of any age(Coraline).

I've read through a lot of the Sandman series and I agree that it should never be made into a movie. I've just ordered the second Absolute book in the series, and I can't wait for it to show up.

Man, that stepbrother of mine--his name's Eric--liked Sandman so much that he's also after the Absolute editions, even though he's on a tight budget. I was surprised that, when I was telling him about Watchmen a few years ago, he said he'd never read it. So I loaned him the paperback, which he liked so much he went and bought that Absolute edition as well. Personally, I rarely buy graphic novels (or collections, or whatever!) in hardcover. This trend of collecting more issues of ongoings in one volume--like those Walking Dead and Invincible hardcovers--or entire runs--Grant Morrison's New X-Men--must have started during my hiatus from comix. Perhaps around 2001 or 2002?

As for Gaiman, I've only read a little of his work. But while I'm being reluctant, that younger stepbrother of mine, Alex, has just started the Sandman saga after liking 1602.

Eric tells me that 2 adaptations of Neverwhere--a TV series and a comic by Mike Carey--sucked!

Believe it or not, the TV series for Neverwhere was actually the basis for the book. It's strange watching the TV series because it's the book almost word for word and shot for shot, but it's terribly acted and looks like it was filmed on a shoestring budget.

I read the book first though, and my imagination was just that much better. The problem with a lot of Neil's stuff is that it relies on your imagination to make it work 100%, and you can never achieve that level of interaction with a movie. Imagining something and seeing it are two completely different things, so even though he's behind a lot of movies now, I don't think they'll ever be as good as his books.

Oh well, I prefer it that way to be honest.

Wow - there is a crazy lot of geek going on here, but it's absolutely fantastic!!! =D

A lot of Star Trek Fans! <3

By this spring/summer, I'll be able to officially say that I've watched every single Star Trek TV episode ever made - from the Original Series, Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager and Enterprise - I'm SO stoked about it!!!! xD

Hopefully by then they'll announce a new series in the works - the world needs more Star Trek! lol

And yes, welcome back Dawg! ^_^
